I have long been a believer in the importance of reflection and gratitude and this week reminds us of how very grateful we should be.

This week has been the 80th commemoration of D-day. A time for solemn memories and expressions of gratitude. In France, the celebrations have been widespread.

Here I share a snapshot:

  • 80 ans du Débarquement. "Il en a pleuré", à 101 ans, le vétéran américain Papa Jake vole pour la première fois en jet privé - from France 3←

  • A look back at the 70th anniversary.

Almost exactly ten years ago, a group of Normandy Veterans from Norfolk posed for photos at Luc-sur-Mer to the delight of everyone lucky enough to be there. What a wonderful moment.

Left to right: Ernie Chambers, Peter Hemp, Norman Taylor, John Utting and David Woodrow. Sadly, only Ernie and David are still with us.

  • D-Day 80 - Standing with Giants

Calm and peaceful 80 years on, in stark comparison to the scenes that unfolded on 6 June 1944.
