I am not sure if I have visited Villeneuve ( either of them) but Najac is a very real place for me! The tent was pitched in the usual place in such villages down on the flood plain under poplar trees. The storm arrived. I sat in the tent to hold it down and divert the leaks away from the bedding and my husband sat in the car ready to take us away if something did happen.

Not far east a tree did blow down on a car, as we discover later when we drive uphill to a bar in Najac to recover and admire the steam rising off the trees and river below.

Have a drink? I was offered two types of liqueurs: how to choose? Poire ou prune? How do I say I can’t make up my mind? “Ma coeur balance entre…” my husband replied kindly (great experiences render him poetic I think) so that is what I said! It caused a great smile I was given a shot of both whilst we learnt about the horrible weather and what we had so narrowly escaped. Ma Coeur was then certainly in a state of great Balance!

Wow, what an adventure in Najac @Liz Wrigley! It is an absolutely beautiful village under the right weather conditions. Did you spend much time in Aveyron?

My guess of Villeneuve was right! But then so it should have been since it is a town I love, especially the market and the Antiques fair in summer! Ive never managed to set foot in the Gallerie Jean-Marie Périer, it has either been closed or heaving with tourists... one day Iwill arrive at the right moment though!

Hi @Susie Mawhinney -- I'm just seeing this as I don't get notifications directly here. Yes, Villeneuve is near your territory! I missed the market but visited the gallery in ideal conditions -- there were only 2 other visitors when I was there in October, which might be a good time. It's interesting to know it's already packed with tourists even before the label.
