My favourite Hotel & Restaurant; window shopping & a roof-top terrace view; a small Museum; a Bridge across the Seine, Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral and New Year’s Eve Fireworks with a Vin Chaud.
Wow, what a Super grouping of lovely Parisian places and things to do!
I hope you got to hear the Notre Dame bells ring. We loved our visit in the renovated church and admired all fantastic the renovation work done by the artisans. I recently read that they're still working on the flying buttresses.
Thank you Kathy. I am so glad you enjoyed my article about Paris. No - unfortunately I have not been back to Paris to visit Notre Dame since the fire renovations. But this is definitely at the top of my list of places to visit this year.
You'll be surprised like me, I believe, at how clean everything is inside which makes the play of light even better. And the paintings in those side chapelles are no longer almost black, but vibrant with Color! 😍
Caroline, I loved this, merci ! You've taken us all to Paris at its seasonal Christmas best - and all without jetlag! I particularly enjoyed the way your memories prompted mine... different, of course, but meaningful and moving all the same. As you're aware, I'm in Australia for Christmas this year with 37 degrees yesterday and 24 today.... so different! Christmas carols playing in the background - perhaps a little too loudly...
Thanks for sharing your passion for France with us all.
Such a lovely collection of memories woven together through the years! Paris is magical at Christmas and we have been up there several times in December. What ballet did you see? I've visited l'Opéra but never seen a show there.
Love this tribute to my favourite of all cities. I have been there many times and visited some of these places. I visited it September 2024 for four days. I selected just a few things to concentrate on this time. One of the highlights was spending time with a French friend who lives there and taking a tour of Montparnasse including the graveyard. I visited Beckett's grave. I must visit the Galerie next time I am there. And check out the hotel.

I’m certainly looking forward to it.

Thank you Betty. Now Hotel Chopin isn’t four star or modern - but it’s the Belle Époque atmosphere that I will always love.
I liked the look of that hotel, and its name of course. I forgot to mention it in my comment.

Thank you so much Lucy. It is a wonderful city, isn’t it. There’s always something new or different to do.
