Mark, lovely tribute to Tony and Sheala! Thanks so much for sharing it. I am in touch with Sheala which is some contact at least. Enjoy 2024, all best wishes to you both.

What a great story. I loved the art as well. I was also intrigued to learn about the school in Owatonna, a piece of Minnesota history I never knew. Good job, Mark!

I believe he’s also something of a mathematician judging by his library full of books on the subject at Round Pond. Coming down the stairs one morning while visiting in June 2018 (he is my wife’s Uncle Tony), I was still rubbing sleep from my eyes when I found him sitting in a chair with a computer open on his lap. He was watching a YouTube video on vector analysis. Happy birthday, Tony!

You are so right, John. The first time Kim and I walked past his enormous collection of books, he ran his hand over the volumes on math, and other subjects foreign to me, saying, “Christ, mathematics, I love it.” Would enjoy hearing more from you and your connection to Tony. Email is just below. MJ

While cleaning out my late father’s home (in Minnesota), I recently ran across a painting that was signed ‘A B Jackovick’. The painting has been in my father’s family for awhile, but I do not know how they came by it. I am aware that Anthony’s last name is spelled Jackovich, not Jackovick, but the signature looks almost identical to Anthony’s other paintings. Do you know if Anthony, or his family, could confirm authenticity of the painting? I am planning to donate it to The Owatonna Art Center if it was indeed painted by Anthony. Kind regard, Mary Derosier

Hi Mary – I just now saw your comment. Sorry to be a tad late in responding. Anyway, Jackovick and Jackovich are interchangeable spellings. Can you email me a photo of your painting and a close up of the signature? Many thanks. PS: Tony passed away today in Thailand, one day after his 101st birthday.

And Tony’s middle initial was B.
