Having stopped drinking 8 years ago, I can tell you that it doesn’t matter if you order with or without. In fact, even though the wine culture is grand, there’s plenty of people that don’t drink, especially French women. If you’re needing to calculate every move to get through the week, it would seem to me that it’s taken over your life. Is it worth it?

I’m not judging, I’ve been there. Only trying to offer insight. I eventually stopped and owned it. When it’s my time to order I always have my drink in my head. People may ask but I don’t care. I just say “I don’t drink”. It works and few people question that.

Good luck and enjoy whatever rhythm you choose. It’s your life nobody else’s.

Salute 🥂

I often drink Perrier. Sometimes with a little “sirop”. Otherwise, in winter I like Ginger Beer. Juice in the summer. I stick with water while eating. Anything really.

I used to joke about how French people would always offer me a Jus de Fruits, along with many other things for the “aperitif”. I found it funny because I don’t think anyone in the USA ever suggested this as an option.

In France it’s quite common to drink non alcoholic. It’s easier here. Harder with the Anglo crowd.

I once lived in Beaune and learned so much about wine. I do miss it at times with dinner. I still have wine in the house and will have a whiff to be sure it’s a good one. I still have my nose. In the end, deciding to stop was the best decision I ever made. I don’t even think about it anymore.

That's excellent, Suzanne. What are your go-to drinks?
