I was in Paris in August a few years ago. I have to be honest, it was weird to experience the quiet. We turned onto Ave. Bourdonnais only to see just one other person walking down the sidewalk! I even took a picture of it because that street is never that empty.
Katie, I know exactly what you mean — it can feel almost surreal to see Paris so empty in August. The silence makes you notice the city differently, though, details you’d normally miss in the crowd suddenly stand out.
Judy, it certainly felt the latter at first, but after a day or two, it was quite peaceful. I'll probably do it again. Maybe towards the end of the month? :)
