Definitely agree about the beauty in the off season, so much better to see places when they are less crowded. We visited in late November, unfortunately on a day it was pouring with rain, we got soaked and a lot was closed as you mention. We ended up seeking shelter in a mediocre restaurant but will definitely save a few of the links above for a return visit ( in the off season!).
