In this FREE le Bulletin we explore French cemeteries: so full of history, & stories. Some are places of beauty & others are stark. PLUS we go to a private olive harvest & visit the Var: Le Brusc
The animal cemetery is behind a paywall so I don't know if this anecdote is in the article. In 2012, the tomb of a poodle was raided because it was long rumored to contain a diamond-studded collar that was buried with the poodle.
My other cemetery anecdote is more personal. When my French mother was researching her ancestors, she learned of one that was buried in the Verdun Jewish cemetery. This small graveyard is under lock and key, only accessible upon request. After completing the admin procedures to obtain access, she met with the key-holder and they visited the cemetery. When she found the tombstone of her ancestor, she noticed that the very day they were visiting was his birthday. 🙏❤️

No worries, Judy, I don't mean yours! It's the one you linked to, about the animal cemetery.
Ahh sorry I misread your comment ;). Interesting isn’t it. Thanks for adding your anecdote.
Our pleasure Pierre
Loved Pierre Guernier’s article on Parisienne graveyards and I really want to visit the pet cemetery.
You’re not alone caroline
