ANNOUNCEMENT: Are you interested in reading the next MyFrenchLife™ French Book Club pick?
'The Postcard' by Anne Berest is our new Spring read. It's been recently translated by Tina Kover and was first published under the French title 'La Carte Postale' in 2021.
We expect to start reading by 15 March until late April, so it is time to order your book in French or English - your choice.
An eerie postcard found by the narrator with only 4 names on it in the early 2000s (those of members of her family who died at Auschwitz in 1942)takes her to a family mystery by delving into the past.
This book was originally written in French and has been recently translated into English.
It is available now. (the poster image below was published in May 2023)

Good choice for the Book Club. Tina Kover is an outstanding translator, and the story is quite good. In fact, I have listed 'The Postcard' as a competitive title in my book proposal, a story about finding eight love letters from 1926 and spending 8 years tracking down the author.
We are studying this in French (troisième) as a companion/comparison read with Simon Veil’s Une Vie… both are what I think can only be described sa ‘bouleversante’ - a great choice Judy!
