Good choice for the Book Club. Tina Kover is an outstanding translator, and the story is quite good. In fact, I have listed 'The Postcard' as a competitive title in my book proposal, a story about finding eight love letters from 1926 and spending 8 years tracking down the author.

I won’t sign up for the read along Jacqueline simply because I’m already struggling to keep up the another (Wolf Hall) here on Substack but if I can join in with anything pertinent I will… sadly children (mostly) do not enjoy these literature lessons no matter how interesting the lessons are made for them - it’s rather depressing tbh, because I know they will realise the importance later in life…

I teach only children with learning difficulties, I say ‘only’ but in-fact they become more numerous every year… and mostly at college level - I have a feeling I’d be completely lost above that..!

We are studying this in French (troisième) as a companion/comparison read with Simon Veil’s Une Vie… both are what I think can only be described sa ‘bouleversante’ - a great choice Judy!

Also we'll be setting up a couple of live chats for this book - would you be interested in that?
