Do you ever select English language books with a French life theme as the subject of the book club? Pardon My French by Rachael Mogan McIntosh is a funny, heartbreaking memoir of a young Australian family’s year in France. A contemporary Year in Provence with an antipodean sense of humour. I highly recommend it.
bonjour Elisabeth, thank you but the focus for the book club is Award-winning and best-selling French novels which have been recently translated into French. We find there have been plenty of these which are deep and fascinating. We really like the concept of reading what the french are reading now as another way of gaining a deeper understanding of the people and the French culture.
Merci - Thank you to those who have emailed to express your interest in joining us!
We have previously run this French Book Club in a private group on Facebook but now we're going to try to do it here on Substack.
* Reading of 'MyCousin Maria Schneider' has been extended until the END OF JULY due to new readers from Substack.
* Jacqueline and I will post here https://judymacmahon.substack.com/s/bookchat-myfrenchlife and you will be able to comment on those posts.
* Additionally we will open French Book Club LIVE chats to enable more interactivity.
* we may have events online depending on demand
* we may also have in person events for paying subscribers depending upon demand.
PS: OPTIONAL - here is our MyFrenchLife community private Facebook Group
and from there you can request access to the #Bookchat - should you wish to do so.
