Brilliant insight. You are walking on the streets differently now. I hope every day is a good one.

Hi there Cecile! I think that’s exactly it. The streets changed, but so did the person walking them. Thank you for seeing that.

Home is not necessarily where we are born…it is where our heart sings, where our life priorities align, where we feel a part of a family, even if it isn’t biological family. We can’t always control where that is and for some of us, that changes through the years. The important thing is we need the freedom and yes, the bravery, to be allowed to find it. You did! Bravo!

Oh Pam! Thank you. I think you’ve captured exactly what I was trying to say. Home can be a place, but it can also be the moment when your outside life finally matches your inside life.

Perfect - thank you

Absolutely bingo. Explains it perfectly. Thank you for writing something I can share with friends that gives some inkling about some of my why... besides the fact that I'm a Franco- American anyhow, having so far now lived most of my life in the states.

Thank you. That means a great deal to me. I think many of us spend years trying to explain our ‘why’ when the truth is that it often lives more in a feeling than a fact. I’m honored the story helped give voice to some of yours.

I loved this, as always! 😍

"At one point I was fairly certain I had photocopied my own soul twice and still needed a notarized version." Even under duress like that, the thing is you kept on going and look where you've arrived!

Thank you Kathy! Looking back, I’m amazed at some of the things I thought were normal at the time. When you’re in the middle of it, you just keep moving forward. It’s only later that you realize some chapters were held together with coffee, stubbornness, and a complete lack of better options.
