What a magnificent piece Caroline. I’ve learned so much through reading this, but the biggest take away from me is that 90% of the world’s lace is made in Calais and the Brit’s lost industry due to high taxes. And so much more of course. Excellent piece Caroline.
Thank you Judy but I don’t know about that. At times I really struggled with this article - not understanding the mechanical process and asking myself how can I write about something that I feel clueless about? I wondered whether I would be in a position to publish it at all. But the academic paper from the University of Arizona helped me see the light and then everything fell into place.
I was introduced to lace-making in Le-Puy-en-Velay, and just got back from another town known for the craft. I don't think I'll ever write about it, though, because you have written the definitive piece on French lace-making! Or else I'll use it as a reference and footnote you!

How decadent Lisa
Thank you so much Lisa. I really appreciate your valuable feedback.
It’s an excellent piece Caroline, it makes me wish I could still fit the silk lace dress I used to wear.
An excellent piece, Caroline! You set the bar high!

Well that is quite some honour @Betty Carlson . Thank you! I’m curious as to where you’ve just been….
Clarification -- I will write about the town, but probably little about lace.
I now have a much higher regard for lace and the making of it and will treasure the few pieces I have.
Thank you so much for your feedback Wendy.
