An inevitable progression of digital everything but I do wonder how many more traditions will be banished to the archives before we realise what we've lost?

Thank you of sharing Judy... xx

This is a great story, especially in the context of other recent immigration related news here. I hope it will advance the bureaucratic side of his paperwork.

Great article and story. It is such a shame to witness the disappearance of these types of jobs and characters from our social lives. It's good to see such a man celebrated 😄

yes, change is all around us and probably always has been but nowadays change comes at such a pace. however we've seen this one coming for years. I'm thrilled that both he and le Monde continued for so long :)

This piece just made my month and more. Beautiful beyond, in a moment when we need divine reminders of the power of human connection. Thank you.

I had not read about this -- not surprising with everything going on. Once again, who can imagine this happening in the USA now? Thank you for your article.

This piece is so beautiful Judy!

"It recognises that some contributions to French culture can’t be measured in citizenship papers or profit margins. Sometimes being French is about showing up every day for 50 years, becoming the voice and the accent of your neighbourhood, and serving your community with such dedication that even the president remembers you..."

This especially resonates with me as I could only hope to make as big of a contribution with my sacred work in this city...
