Paris insight – ‘Sneak Preview’

The circus has come to town! Or at least a puppet show.

Sometimes creepy, sometimes charming,
Théâtres Guignol have occupied a niche in French culture
since the Revolutionary Era and somehow manage to
enthrall children to this day.

In an age when video games and portable screens
hold hypnotic sway over young eyeballs,
les enfants de #Paris still queue up for marionette
spectacles in parcs around the city or in
traveling performances which rotate
through the neighbourhoods.

This particular show was dark for the day,
but a couple of youngsters couldn’t resist the temptation
to peer inside the magical tent…after all,
the flap does read “ENTRÉE”!
