“So, why not capitalise on this?” thought Jean-Francois and the people at Cartell music one rainy afternoon in Melbourne. They called on some friends from France, summoned the summer weather, and thus the ‘So Frenchy So Chic’ one-day festival was born in 2012.

Next year, 2013, this “handcrafted festival of joie de vivre” is back on 20 January, with music superstars and purveyors of French chic Mélanie Pain, Revolver, Carmen Maria Vega and Nadéah.

It’s a day of family-friendly, ‘Frenchy’ fun. So bring a picnic rug, enjoy the fabulous French fare on offer, and keep the kids entertained with face painting, drumming classes, and even a little pétanque.
