Saint-Tropez has moved closer to Melbourne and Sydney this January
The mere sound of the words ‘Saint-Tropez’ is enough to get the blood pumping and the heart racing for some. A visit to the stunning port in the picturesque Bay of Saint-Tropez is the stuff of dreams for some of our readers.
For those of you who can’t wait for summer in France however you have an opportunity to be transported there by the riveting photography exhibition Star Spotting in Saint-Tropez staged by Sofitel Luxury Hotels until the end of January.
The collection of photos by Daniel Angeli, often considered the ‘godfather’ of the paparazzi movement, captures the branché lifestyle of many of the 20th century celebrity icons such as Bardot, Lagerfeld, Diana, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Dustin Hoffman, whilst they holidayed in this stunning southeastern France playground.
The photographs are striking for their frankness and spontaneity – not surprising given they were taken both with and without consent.
This very special exhibition is being staged at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth until the 31 January 2012.

Judy, how right. The photos are brilliant. I love their spontaneity. They capture a moment in time when optimism and style rather than the loss of AAA rating made the headlines. Progress has its downside – obviously!
