Last month marked the launch of Jane Webster’s delightful new book ‘French Ties’. To celebrate, Sydney francophiles visited ‘Patisse’ for delightful French cuisine and a conversation with the book’s author.

As a sequel to Jane Webster’s first book ‘My French Table’, ‘French Ties’ follows on with her continuing life in Normandy. Always inspired by the flavours of France, she intertwines beautiful photography and poignant insights with delicious recipes.

French Inspiration

In celebration, Executive Chef at ‘Patisse’ Vincent Gadan created a tasting menu inspired by Webster’s recipes. The pair, along with ‘Patisse’ owner Michelle Guberina, visited Chateau Bosgouet in 2011.

Guests were treated to an array of colourful and delicate treats. Sweet red onion was curled into crumbling pastry and smoked salmon blinis made a come back.

Then it was time for dessert, featuring one of Webster’s signature recipes: syrupy lemon cake. From miniature flowerpot inspired creations to a tower of macarons, there was something pour chaque goût.

Conversation time

Between courses, guests listened to Webster and Gadan discuss their love affair with all things French.

We can’t wait for Jane’s next book, if not for its brilliance then for the delicious launch party to accompany it!
