Your insider’s guide to Paris Fashion Week – Part Three
She studied womenswear and underwear design at Esmod Paris, and currently works as a production assistant for Issey Miyake. She now takes fashionistas behind-the-scenes at Paris Fashion Week for Localers Tours. A PFW veteran, there’s no one better to take you behind the scenes.
Cordelia Houel wasn’t always sure she wanted to study fashion. ” I started out doing a degree in interior architecture, however, I found it too mathematical and there wasn’t enough room for creativity. That’s one of the reasons why I was attracted to the world of fashion.”
But now, she can’t get enough. Once you’ve immersed yourself in the world of fashion, there’s no going back.
Which designers will she be watching out for this year?
“I love to look at as many show as possible because the designers always do something new and different,” she explains. Among these are Chanel, Lanvin, Carven, JC Castelbajac, Marni, McQueen -“It’s impossible to choose just one!”
While she can’t choose a designer, she doesn’t hesitate when picking out her favourite model: “I love Coco Rocha!” (pictured). Other than that, she says she doesn’t particularly pay attention to the models.
While it’s all well and good to talk about the amazing places to go, and gorgeous clothes to drool over, not everyone can make the Paris Fashion Week dream a reality.
For those of us who are more ‘Armchair Paris Fashion Week Travellers’ Cordelia recommends fashion blogs like ‘The Sartorialist’ or Tommy Ton’s blog for Style.com for staying up-to-date. And if you want to watch the shows, head to Vogue.com or Now Fashion.
