For writers: how to submit

How do submissions work?

We know you’re busy, so we’ll help you stay organised!

1. We work closely with writers to plan articles well in advance:

Writers have a specific submission date, or dates.

Each writer nominates a specific area for which they will contribute content.

We then create a content calendar together, to plan out what you’ll be writing about, and when.

2. Each writer submits via email (info@myfrenchlife.org):

Please send your article as a Word Document. Simply write it as you’d like to see it appear on the website (with sub-headings, bold words etc), and we’ll let you know if we need to make any significant changes.

Find at least three appropriate images for your article:

Use either your own photos, or creative commons licensed-images (if you’re not sure how to find CC images, let us know – we’ll send you our guide).

We prefer images that are at least 600px wide.

Don’t forget to include image credits – please make note of the exact URLs for the page on which you find each image. These can be listed either in your email to us, or at the bottom of your Word Document.

We prefer writers to use a file share tool like Google Drive or WeTransfer, to bundle their images and Word Document together.

How does publishing work?

We’ll let you know as soon as your article has been published, via email.

cursorDate of publication is at the discretion of the editorial team. Whilst articles are usually published 14 days after submission, this timeframe is subject to change.

We’ll promote your article on Twitter and Facebook – be sure to tell us your Twitter handle and if you have a Facebook page, and we’ll mention you!

We encourage you to publish an introduction to your articles on your social media and also on your blog, if you have one. Even though these introductions link through to the magazine, your blog and social media site will receive the benefit of being connected to us.

Last but not least, we’re always here to answer your questions, provide support, or just have a chat! Get in touch at info@myfrenchlife.org.
