The first time I stepped in one of those foul little presents, I was with my host family, returning to the car after a lovely dinner. I was fifteen, and still a little naïve. My shiny purple Dr Marten boots were brand new, and I was utterly horrified to have soiled them.

My sister Ebony didn’t particularly want to go to France, but when she was forced to visit me for Christmas, she arrived with a strict agenda: to sample proper French cuisine. And by ‘proper French cuisine’, I mean snails and frogs legs.

BB Brunes – A Parisian Concert Experience

There are some talented young folk making music in France, and they’re called BB Brunes. A Parisian quartet with members around the age of just 22, they’ve already released two successful albums, with a third one on the way. Towards the end of last year, while completing an intensive study program in France, I had the pleasure of seeing them at L’Olympia in Paris.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be Madeline. I was convinced that we had plenty in common – sure, I couldn’t speak French, I didn’t attend boarding school in Paris, and I wasn’t friends with the Spanish Ambassador’s son, but I was quite short.
