Best hot chocolate in Paris: the 10th-11th arrondissements
What we love about the 10th and 11th arrondissements is the arty and boho atmosphere next to the frenzy of Bastille or République.
On the one hand you have the hustle and bustle of animated bars and concert halls. On the other, a succession of trendy designer boutiques and little cafés along the Canal St Martin, where it just feels good to observe la vie parisienne over a hot chocolate.
We’re sure you’d love to know where they serve the best ones. Here are our favorites:
La Chambre aux Oiseaux
The name of this coffee shop takes us straight away to another world. With its old-fashioned yet lovely wallpaper, comfy chairs, cushions and wooden furniture, we feel like we’re in a small, snug nest. And the experience wouldn’t be complete without a wonderful cup of traditional hot chocolate. We can’t wait to come back!

Barbershop
Behind this curious name, is hidden a restaurant/bar/coffee shop with an arty atmosphere and a vintage look. We have no doubt that their thick hot chocolate will please cacao enthusiasts. American or British brunches are also served on weekends. Bon appétit!

Amorino
We’re pretty sure you’re quite familiar with this Italian ice cream maker by now. At Bastille, too, you can taste one of their various hot chocolates. The hazelnut flavored is my personal favorite: creamy and with a real taste of praline, it’s a delight.

Helmut Newcake
Helmut Newcake is the first gluten-free bakery in Paris, and good news: their hot chocolate is as mouth-watering as their large choice of cakes and pastries. Cozily seated in this luminous café, we love how the hot beverage compliments our delicious cake.
